Starting A Lifetime (My Beginnings On Fishing)

Blogger isn't letting me add pictures! Anybody else having this problem? How can I prove my Tales now? Well, you'll just have to believe me until the stupid loader works again.

This is the story of how I first got into fishing. I was 5 years old, and living in Los Angeles. I had never done much outdoor stuff, and no one in my family did much either. Still, my Grandma had decided every boy needed to go fishing once. Once. Once. Once. Echo...  We arrived at the little stocked trout pond, paid our entrance fee, and started fishing. The gear setup? A bamboo stick with some corn and line and a hook. After fishing for a few minutes, my grandparents decided to go sit in the car. I continued fishing, trying to find a movement that would entice a fish. As I was slowly walking my stick up and down the bank, my rod went heavy. "I got one, I got one!" I called. But my grandparents could not hear me. I yanked the fish in, Proud and excited as could be, and looked at my prize. A beautiful 14 inch rainbow. I managed to unhook the fish, and since this was a catch and keep pond, euthanized it. To an adult, that means leave it in a bucket. To a five year old boy, that means beat it senseless with a large rock. Once that was all done, I walked over and showed my grandparents the fish. I then put the fish in the bucket and went right back to fishing. I managed to catch seven fish that day, using corn and my walking the bank technique. I made sure to fight it, unhook it, and beat it to death each time. After a couple hours of fishing, my grandma took me home and cooked the fish for me to eat. So I had the whole experience. Now remember, once, once, once......   Fast forward

I fish hundreds of days a year, have spent countless amounts of money and effort in fishing, and will never ever stop. Once? No such thing.
Hey, the Photo Uploader works again!!!!

Adding On To Others

For those of you who didn't get to read it, Howard over at Wind Knots And Tangled Lines told all about the rare, exotic, ugly, and sometimes even scary fish that he think should be added to the fish dictionary. After I laughed about it for awhile, it got me thinking. Are there any other new fish out there? Here are my additions.

1. Popeye Fish
This fish seems to use deception and trickery to catch it's prey, as the Popeye fish plays scenes and sometimes even whole episodes of the show "Popeye" out of it's eyes. Many think that the Popeye got it's name that way. They are wrong. The fish actually gets it's name from it's extremely large popped out eyes, which play the show scenes. This fish is starting to become a danger as people are actually trying to swim down and watch the show, but getting attacked by the fish when they arrive. He is pictured below.

2. Super Geniusfish
This next fish has a mind so big, it's brain is popping out of it's head... literally. The Super Geniusfish has such a large mind at this point, that prey are just telepathically placed into the fish's mouth. For now all is safe with these fish, but people worry if one day a much larger strain will appear, hungry for humans. In the mean time, these fish just spend their days swimming... and walking. Yes the Super Geniusfishhas developed enough to where it can spend days or even weeks on land, catching birds and rabbits and so on.

School's Off, Fish On (And A Question for Everyone)

The "Rust Buster," With Legs Attached. This is the Fall Colors Of The Pattern

School's out for Summer! School's out forever! Goodbye to teachers! We all remember that song, and that's all that played on my car ride home today. School is officially over! Time for fishing. But first, I had some questions about how finals went. They went very well. My grades are as follows: English, 98. Spanish, 95. Science, 96. Math, 87. History, 94. Sweet! What this translates into is that I got good grades, and have a Summer ahead with no worries. Out of the 90 days of it, well I plan to spend 80 on the water. I'm sure I'll have some more great stories from that. I'm going to start fishing tomorrow, and I won't be posting anything due to the fact that I'm staying at a friend's house. I will have the story posted on Friday though. The question I have for anyone who's interested today is this: Which one? This refers to the recipe I will be posting in a few days. I am either going to do a demo on the "Alien Shit" or the "Rust Buster." Both are creations of my own, and both work very well. The "Alien Shit" is more of a trout fly, while the "Rust Buster" catches mainly carp. Keep in mind the "Rust Buster" catches some trout as well. So, which one will it be? Whichever wins, I'll post the needed materials a couple of days before I do the recipe. This will be a step by step fly design with photos attached.
